Description Nevada County is seeking an Accountant to perform professional accounting work in the establishment and maintenance of accounts and records, including budget, general and revenue records, and specialized departmental accounts; maintains complete cost accounting ledgers; reports financial and statistical information timely and accurately; prepares a variety of state and federal reports; and performs related work as required. Classification: An Accountant is a professional classification. Incumbents in this class perform the full range of duties and are expected to have a thorough knowledge of accounting policies and procedures as well as be able to exercise independent judgment in complex financial issues. This classification is distinguished from the Accountant-Auditor series by the latter’s allocation to the Auditor-Controllers office and auditing responsibilities.

Requirements • Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting or related field; and one year of applicable experience. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis for a maximum of two years.) • Possession of a valid driver's license within 30 days of hire.
