Description The City of Kinston is seeking an experienced Director of Public Safety.

Requirements Bachelor’s degree in police science, criminal justice, public or business administration, or related field with 10+ years of progressively administrative responsibility for a fire, police, or public safety department or 15 years of administrative pubic safety experience, at least five years of experience at the command rank and progressively responsible supervisory experience. Possession of or ability to obtain NC Law Enforcement Certifications and NC State Firefighter Certifications. Must possess strong management, training, and communication skills to build relationships with officers and leadership skills with vision and goals to lead the department. Must be proactive and possess the ability to enhance public understanding and support of police and fire services, activities, and programs. Must possess a valid NC driver’s license, complete a background investigation, pre-employment physical and drug screen, and psychological examination. City residency required within six months of employment.
