Description The City and County of San Francisco General Services Agency, Department of Public Works is recruiting for the position of 0942 Bureau Manager, Bureau of Engineering (BOE) One of the main objectives of the Department of Public Works (DPW), Bureau of Engineering (BOE) is to provide outstanding public service to the community of San Francisco through the management, design, maintenance, and creation of highly functional and sustainable infrastructure and beautiful public spaces. The Bureau of Engineering is one of five Bureaus within the Engineering Division of DPW. The other four bureaus are the Bureau of Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, and Street Use and Mapping. BOE collaborates with the other bureaus to deliver integrated engineering design and project management services. BOE has six engineering sections, namely, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulics, Streets and Highways, and Landscape Architecture. It also has project management division and administrative functions. DPW is seeking a dynamic individual to oversee and lead the bureau while implementing the department’s newly established Strategic Plan. Under general direction from the Deputy Director of Engineering, this position is responsible for overseeing more than 200 active projects with a construction estimate of about $300 Million per year and a staff of approximately 150 permanent and temporary employees. The BOE Manager will be involved in a wide variety of projects such as the construction and renovation of City’s buildings, libraries, parks, utilities, pump stations, treatment plants, port and airport facilities, and many other facilities that are unique to the City and County of San Francisco. Decisions made by the BOE manager along with the other DPW team of managers will have direct and indirect impact on San Francisco’s cityscape, services, and quality of life.
